book about madrid:
You like to
read? You would like to find out more about friendship & love between foreigners
and Spanish people in Madrid? Looking for places to go out in Madrid? This book
is for you! VOICES OF DESIRE (VOCES DEL DESEO) This
book is a mix of several fictitious dialogues between Robin, a young French man
living in Madrid, and a variety of young Spanish and foreign women. The dialogues
are set in Madrid between the years 1997 and 2003. With the portraits
of these young women, the author explores the feminine and masculine psychology
of human relationships. He conveys the personal experiences lived by Erasmus
students and young foreign women that came to study
in Spain or for career enhancements and, in turn, experienced a profound
change in their psychological and sexual dispositions. The reader finds
that the author's links between the conversations are focused on the habitual
reflective theme of friendship, love and sex between men and women.
The situations the characters encounter in each dialogue force them to think
about the limits of friendship, fidelity, long distance relationships, desires,
fantasies, commitment fears, and the effect that morals and religion have
on their sexual lifestyle. Literature, travels throughout Europe, a
sabbatical year and Madrid's nightlife
are some of the subjects discussed in the two parts that close the book.
First,
wou will find a specila turistic and cultural guide of 20 pages of what to do
and where to go day and night, museums, bars, tapas, tea, disco and more.
And
in the the final interview, the author gives us his personal insight on book recommendations,
the creation of his book, and suggestions on how and where to experience Madrid
culture and to party in Madrid.
This humorous, but sometimes serious book is based on the friendships and
sentimental and sensual relationships experienced by the author with the various
people that he met. This book is highly recommended for those that have yet
to experience the Madrid way of life and for those longing for their memories
of Madrid to return.
Between "Sex and the City" and "L'Auberge
Espagnole" this book
about Madrid and meeting
people in Madrid is a funny way to discover stories
that can happen when you stay in this city.
